Lead Services

Lead is a naturally-occurring element that is the product of billions of years of radioactive decay. Lead had many uses before it was discovered to be harmful including lead-based paints to increase durability and drying times, resist moisture and corrosion, and enhance color vibrancy. Lead was also famously used as a gasoline additive for over 70 years in the United States and for water piping from the late 1800s to early 1900s. Due to the wide use of lead, lead exposure is extremely common in modern developed areas. Exposure to lead can cause serious health issues including developmental problems in children, miscarriages and birth defects with pregnant woman, and can adversely impact kidney function and cardiovascular health.

Lead-Based Paint Inspection

Sources of lead exposure, including lead-based paints, are regulated by the Department of  Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Our team includes accredited Inspectors, Risk Assessors, and Supervisors that are trained in testing and abatement methods using state of the art technology.

Our team can inspect for lead prior to a renovation to comply with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements for worker’s Right to Know and protection, as well as the EPA’s Renovation, Repair, and Paint (RRP) program.

Our inspection reports include maps depicting the location of lead, test results, explanation of applicable regulations, and recommendations.

Lead Risk Assessment

Lead hazards aren’t limited to paint. Exposure can also come from dust, soil, and even drinking water. Our certified Risk Assessors conduct thorough evaluations to identify potential lead risks throughout your property, following Housing and Urban Development (HUD) guidelines.

These assessments not only test for lead but also determine the likelihood of exposure. When hazards are found, we provide clear, practical recommendations for mitigation to help you reduce risk and protect occupants. Especially when buildings are child-occupied.

Lead in Drinking Water

Our services can be as simple as a desktop review of local drinking water quality reports and regulatory violations, or can be as in depth as on-site testing.

Our professionals are trained to strategically collect samples using methods that can determine if the source of lead is originating on your property or coming from the public water supply.

These findings helps guide effective planning for mitigation including working with local contractors to install filtration systems or replace piping, as needed.
